Another fantastic weekend at Mosport (CTMP) and what an intense few days of shooting. Haven’t shot with this particular lens and teleconverter combo before so it was as much a learning experience as it was just enjoying the motorsports experience.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Three grueling days of shooting and hiking around CTMP are over, and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. The people, the teams, the cars - if you’re in the area, you have to come out to this.
But if you really cant, the race replay is already up as of Monday.
And I myself have a few clips, this one of the new 911 RSRs during qualifying.
This is but a small snippet of the full set so make sure to check my flickr when it’s all posted in the coming days.

Great shots! Looks like you had a few awesome days there.
Which camera/lens did you use?

Incredibly exhausting but awesome for sure! Sony A6000, Zeiss 16-70 f4, Sigma 70-200 f2.8 + 2x teleconverter.

Neat lenses! I’ve been looking at getting a 70-200 myself, how do you like the Sigma?
Also I’ll (likely) be in the Toronto area from September till early December. But I guess that means I miss most of the good races at Mosport, right?

Being f2.8 it’s a tad on the heavy side at 1.4kg but that’s the norm for this range of glass. I’d have been easily as happy with the Sony 70-200 f4 thats half the weight and native E mount, meaning much better autofocus tracking (I was using manual focus on the sigma).
Yeah unfortunately most of the racing at Mosport ends in August. The final two major events at CTMP are superbikes (late august) and nascar trucks / porsche gt3 cup (early september). There is the VARAC Celebration of Motorsport (vintage racing) at the end of september, and the CSCS (street/modified time attack and drifting) finale in Cayuga (~1.5 hour drive south from toronto).

Yeah I recently tried a Canon 70-200 f2.8, and that was also quite heavy, but I guess that is the penalty for a f2.8 over a f4.
That’s too bad, better stock up on my motorsports before heading to Canada then, haha.

Great shots! I was there too! I saw that skyline.
Did you camp? Were you outfield or infield?

Wasn’t camping but was there for the entire weekend.
